Inside Out Spoiler Free Short Review

I just watched Inside Out yesterday (August 19, 2015) as it opens in theaters here in the Philippines and it was awesome! Disney/Pixar never disappoints in providing us with great animated films.

Inside Out is an animated film about Riley – a happy, hockey loving 11-year-old kid who had mixed emotions when her family moved to San Francisco, and the 5 emotions namely: Joy, Sadness, Disgust, Fear and Anger, who is inside Riley’s head. The film is directed by Pete Docter – Oscar®-winning director of “Monsters, Inc.” and “Up,” and Vice President – Creative, at Pixar Animation Studios. and Co-Directed by Ronnie Del Carmen (“Finding Nemo,” “Ratatouille” and “Up”).

I was very excited to watch the film especially since I was able to attend the movie’s press conference at Shangri La Makati as well as the talk of director Ronnie Del Carmen at SM IMAX Theater in SM Aura a few weeks before the screening date. I know it was already shown in US theaters and in other countries and that it generally received positive reviews but I had to see it for myself. There were some parts of the film that I laughed hard and some parts that made me teary eyed. There was also a character that they didn’t show in the trailers that you should watch out for. His name rhymes with Ding-Dong.

What I liked most about the film are the lovely characters, the superb animation, and the strong story. At the beginning of the film Joy introduced us on how it all works inside Riley’s head and it helps us better understand and appreciate the story.
I am not a movie or animation expert but only a humble movie fan. I love watching great movies, especially animation because I am also an artist and I’m often ecstatic about films like this. I’d like to thank Jay Gonzales and Jerald Uy for the invite on the press-con and Ronnie’s talk.
Go watch the film. I’m sure you’ll love it too!

I was able to record the prescon’s Q and A in my cellphone, please use a headset while listening as the audio is really low, sorry about that.

It was my first time to enter inside the Makati Shangril La hotel, I was really delighted, I loved the food and the place, but the true highlight of the day was the Press Conference proper. Special thanks to Jerard Uy and Jay Gonzales for the invite.
