I am again here in Pangasinan. The other day I was able to get the Document I need signed done. It’s for the taxes. I want and need it done so I am a good citizen of the Republic of the Philippines. Tomorrow there is a scheduled meeting of BISKEG the Pangasinan Artist Collective. We will talk about the upcoming UpNorth Music Festival in CSI The City Mall Dagupan city. So that’s why I need to work more and more to finish all that I need to finish specially the rush commissions I recently got. So far I am really doing good.
These are only 2 of my simpsonized commission I did last October. I did lots of this for one client and I love it! I get to practice the likeness drawing skill and at the same time earning! I use Photoshop and Sai in doing these. If you need any similar commission message me.
I went to visit my friend Patrick Fernandez at Mug Shotz bar at Calasiao. He is working on a mural painting. I watched him work while I am drinking. Shortly after we drank few bottles of flavored beer. It was awesome.
One illustration for Selfors I did last June. It’s a quick sample illustration I did for him. He did like it. I am now expecting for the next batch of illustrations from him.
Mel’s Daily Blog:
Yesterday I with Patrick Fernandez and Boni De Guzman went to SMX SM Aura to attend the Manilart Gala night and Opening Reception. It’s one of those days that we get to suit up for the occasion. Wine was raining there and finger food too. We also get to see wonderful artworks and meet new friends.
And here’s my Inktober post for Day 8.
Three of my close friends are having an exhibit at Liongoren Gallery in Tapuac District Dagupan City starting on August 22. It’s a month-long showcase of great artworks from Patrick Fernandez’ solo exhibit and Rachel Ann Lacaba and Ben John Albino’s collaboration. With the help of Biskeg Artist Group, another successful opening was held!
I went to the show last Saturday in time to witness how busy the event was. I looked around and really enjoyed the great artworks. I was surprised with the lighting – as the artworks specially on the works of Patrick, were glowing in the dark. He must have used a special paint to get that effect. It’s hard to explain as I am not very good in words, so that’s another reason why you need to see the show. The works of Ben John and Anne are also impressive – the paintings are very colorful that make you want to stare at the paintings for a long time.
Other than the two exhibits, there were also a mini art fair and a mini merchandise sale – with stickers, lot’s of them, pomade and framed little artworks. An open mic was also held at the event in the evening where visitors can go up the microphone and say whatever they want – like poetry, music numbers and pick-up lines.
Go and see the the beautiful artworks, Liongoren Gallery is Located just beside Hilkan Montessori and Mellow Out. Exhibit is open for 4 weeks.
