Mel Casipit is a freelance illustrator, cartoonist, and comics creator based in Makati City, Philippines. He has been active in the local independent komiks scene since 2008, known for self-publishing titles like Baboy, Dog Style, MLU, and Lingon. His weekly comic strip Parekoys has been published in the Manila Bulletin since 2018.

Mel is the host of the Indie Komiks Podcast, the longest-running independent comics podcast in the Philippines, where he interviews creators and promotes local comics. His work spans digital illustration, murals, editorial comics, and customized cartoon portraits. Over the years, he has collaborated with brands like Shell Philippines and The Mind Museum, and has participated in various art and comics events both locally and abroad.

Mel continues to champion Filipino comics through teaching, podcasting, and creating—drawing from personal stories, social themes, and humor to craft engaging visual narratives.
