I’ve always been curious about body cap lenses, but when I checked the prices, I was shocked at how expensive the options were. One of the body cap lenses I was considering was the Olympus version—since I’ve been using Olympus mirrorless bodies for the longest time, it just made sense to get one.
After searching on Facebook Marketplace, I finally found one for Php 2,000—and I didn’t hesitate to get it.

Rethinking Photography
When I was starting out in photography, I was obsessed with achieving blurry backgrounds. To me, at the time, blurry backgrounds were photography. But as I gained more experience, I realized that a shallow depth of field is not the only thing that makes a great photo. Composition, lighting, and storytelling all play a huge role in creating impactful images. Photography is a vast and rewarding hobby to explore.
Street Photography and the Body Cap Lens
Recently, I’ve been exploring street photography, where being as discreet as possible is key to capturing authentic, candid moments. The smaller and less noticeable your gear is, the better. That’s one of the reasons I wanted a compact lens—hence, the body cap lens.
Here are some of my favorite shots taken with the Olympus 15mm F8 body cap lens. I captured most of these photos while riding at the back of a motorcycle, ensuring I used a hand strap for safety.
